The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global network in 90 countries. It is an independent association funded by the German Foreign Office, fostering international cultural cooperation since 66 years. Their cultural and educational programmes encourage intercultural dialogue and enable cultural involvement in the fields of film, dance, music, theatre, literature and translation. They strengthen the development of structures in civil society and foster worldwide mobility. One of its main goals is the international discourse about key topics in a globalized society. The Goethe-Institut in Karachi was founded in 1957, the Goethe-Institut in Kabul in 1965 (re-opened in 2003).
